Dear Resident, Family and Friends,

I am pleased to advise that we will begin our planned refurbishment work in Palm Sails dining space this week.  Preliminary work will begin on Monday 30th April.  As of this date, the location we serve our meals in will change for Palm Sails.

From Monday 30th, all meals from lunchtime onwards will be served in Village Square.
Note: Breakfast on Monday morning will be in the dining room as planned.  This arrangement for meals will continue until works in the main dining area are completed (approximately 2 months).  Our target completion is the end of June.  We will update you as the works progress, and when a completion date is known, we will, of course, let you know in advance.

We will aim to serve morning tea in the three individual lounges located around the Palm Sails wing.

While these works are being undertaken, we will be maintaining an access corridor through the space – primarily to facilitate access into The Haven, and also to the Nurses Office – although there will be periods when this space will be blocked off.  We would suggest avoiding the area unless you have to pass through the space.  There will be temporary barriers placed to provide safe egress through the space.

So what will change?  We will be creating a ‘kitchenette’ in front of the existing servery – which will look and feel much like a large home kitchen.  The existing ‘kitchenette’ will be removed from the sidewall (along with all the joinery).  We will also create a wall in front of the toilet door, storage door and external entry door, to provide privacy.  This will extend to the entry to the Haven, to provide more private entry to that wing as well.  On the playing field side of the room, we will be creating a lounge area, and a smaller sitting space area in front of the Nurses Office.

The creation of this new kitchenette will allow us to provide more ‘finishing’ cooking for main meals, but also a space which can be used by residents for activities.

All of this will be complimented by new furniture, including a mix of 6 seater and 4 seater dining tables.  I look forward to the completion of this space, and thank all for their patience whilst this refurbishment work is going on.

Yours sincerely,

Matt Downie
